HIT OF THE SEASON 2010
FISHING IN THE ADRIATIC

We would like to invite you to attractive fishing in the resort of Rogoznica in Middle Dalmatia, which carries on rich traditions of fishing. In the region, there are many smaller and bigger islets offering wealth of undersea life. There is no industry in the surrounding radius of 30 km. The crystal sea is a guarantee for quality fishing. During your sojourn, you will be fishing in places of special choice around the isles of Murvica, Svilan and around the lighthouse of Mulo. In addition, you will discover interesting places for fishing close to a smaller group of isles of Barilac, Maslinik and Grbavac before Šibenik.

Under supervision of experienced Croatian fishermen, in a region rich in fish, you will try out some of the most often used fishing methods. You will certainly experience many interesting moments with the skilled fishermen. Every day, you will taste fish specialties and wash them down with excellent wine. You will experience what it means to catch some of the best quality fish of the Adriatic, e.g. langouste, eel, or octopus. Furthermore, you will be allowed to freeze a part of your catch and bring it home with you. Even the most demanding gourmets shall be satisfied.

Drawing fish out will be done through several methods. During your sojourn, there will always be three boats available for you: one bigger boat, professionally equipped, driven by an experienced fisherman; and two smaller boats for sport-recreation fishing with rod or fishing-line. Every day, you will choose a combination of cruise and fishing on one of the three boats, according to your boat preferences.

Most often, the fish caught ranks among high-quality fish: Škarpina, Šampjer, Šarat, Fratar, and Pagar. Among crayfish it would be langouste and lobster. Among middle-quality fish, it would be Lokarda, Hobotnica, Ugor, Kanjac, Bukva, and Pirka.

Accommodation and Boarding

Accommodation is provided in the resort of Rogoznica in a private apartment near to the sea, close to Lozica Bay. The apartment owner is also our representative and delegate within the project of Fishing in The Adriatic. During your sojourn, the owner will always accompany you on the boat and be available to you. Should you feel interested, you can document the whole of your holiday on a camcorder.

In addition to comfortable accommodation, you will be provided with 3 meals per day. As a good fisherman, you will be eating your breakfast (doručak) and typical fisherman’s snack (marenda) right on the boat.

Every day, in the early evening after return from fishing, you will be provided with an excellent dinner. The landlady will have prepared a special menu comprising some of the best-known Dalmatian fish specialties. You will taste some newly drawn out grilled fish (Friška riba na žaru), octopus roasted in the old way (Hobotnica ispod peke), excellent Brudet (Brodet), fruits of the sea prepared in various styles, steamed fish with soup, and black risotto with cuttlefish (Crni rižot od sipe). As hors d'oeuvre, you will be offered to taste homemade fish spread and pickled tiny fish (Slani inčuni).

The meals will be prepared in konoba in the basement and served either on terrace or in the konoba. You will also be offered homemade travarica as aperitif, and well-known red wine of Babić to wash down the meal.

Weather and opportunities of trips

The region of Šibenska Rogoznica has been known for its excellent climatic conditions. Similarly to other Middle Adriatic isles (Hvar, Brač etc.), it features a high number of sunny days in a year. Our travel agency is to monitor the weather conditions and, in case of unexpected changes in weather, suggest a shift in terms of departure. In case of bad weather, we have prepared for you several very interesting trips to neighbourhood. For instance, there is a trip to the UNESCO-protected monuments in Split and Trogir, a trip to Goljini Dvori village to observe seven stone-made houses that offer homemade specialties, a visit to waterfalls on the River Krka, or Cetina Canyon. Not further than 500 m from the apartments, there lays the most modern yacht-harbour in the Adriatic, the Marina Frapa, which offers quality restaurants and lots of entertainment.

Program of Sojourn

First day

• Guests arrive in the afternoon or evening hours. They accommodate themselves in apartments. After, they take a walk in Rogoznica and get acquainted with the boats, Croatian fishermen, and the program of sojourn. The day closes with dinner.

Second day

• Guests wake up at dawn and set out for all-day fishing.
• Breakfast on the boat (bread, cheese, pršut, piquant salami, Dalmatian smoked lard, juice, beer etc.).
• Reconnaissance of several attractive spots for fishing; being acquainted with methods of fishing.
• Fishing with rods from the boat; disembarking on islets and the lighthouse of Mulo; fishing from the coastal rocks.
• Fisherman’s snack (marenda) on the boat. At dusk casting the nets from boat to the sea. The nets would stay here until next morning.
• Return to konoba for delicious homemade dinner (fish or meat by agreement)

Third day

• Guests wake up at dawn and set out for all-day fishing.
• Professional fish-out of the previously cast nets (with the aid of a boat-based lifter)
• Breakfast on the boat plus examination of the catch.
• Fishing from the boat with rods or by hand with a fishing-line
• Fisherman’s snack (marenda) on the boat.
• At dusk casting the nets again from boat to the sea. The nets would stay here until next morning.
• Return to konoba for delicious homemade dinner.

Fourth day

• Guests wake up at dawn and set out for all-day fishing.
• Professional fish-out of the previously cast nets (with the aid of a boat-based lifter)
• Breakfast on the boat plus examination of the catch.
• Fishing from the boat with rods or by hand with a fishing-line
• Fisherman’s snack (marenda) on the boat.
• At dusk casting the nets again from boat to the sea.
• Return to konoba for delicious homemade dinner.

Fifth day

• Breakfast in the apartment
• Departure home in the forenoon hours.

The price includes:
4 nights in apartment; 4 breakfasts, snacks, and dinners; 3 days of fishing. Next, the price includes: lease of 2 boats per day; fresh fish-bait; guide of our travel agency; preparation of equipment for angling.
